Sam Ashaolu has spoken at different schools and organizations. Sam captures youths and young adults with his story of Hard Work and Never Giving Up. He captures his audience with his amazing story of fighting through adversity to achieve his dream of receiving a Division 1 scholarship.
Sam earned a degree from Duquesne University in Communication and a minor is Sociology. He also earned a Bachelor of Social Work from Toronto Metropolitan University. Sam earned a basketball scholarship to the Duquesne University in Pittsburgh PA. After attending six different high schools and prep schools before he earned his basketball scholarship. He was on his way to becoming a professional basketball player, on September 17 2006, he was shot twice in the head leaving a campus party and he almost lost his life and his basketball career was over. In the last few years Sam has been using his situation to inspire other people to Work Hard and Never Give Up on their dream, through his workshops, talks, and basketball camps.
Sam provides 6 and 12 week programs on Life-Skills, Employment, Education and Financial Literacy, Counselling, Mentorship and Summer and Winter basketball camps.
Trainer
As a student at Coastal Christian Academy in Virginia Beach, Sam was one of the top prep school basketball players in the state. He signed a scholarship to Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. After graduating, Sam came back to Toronto and has been coaching and training students of all ages.
Sam has worked with and trained players with United Elite, Grassroot Canada and other high schools in the Toronto area. Sam teaches players lessons they can use on and off the court. Sam helps players understand the true meaning of Hard work, Dedication and Never To Give Up. Sam has trained players from beginners all the way to advance. Sam has been training for over 10 years.
